Metrics, Evening Edition…

So I was so consumed with the story that I spent the last hour (minus a few minutes for dinner) writing. I got another 1383 words in for a total today of 2643. Pretty good for one day! Not going to do another real metrics post, but I WILL slap up another progress bar because, let’s face it, I r addicted!!!

My First Poll…

*wipes a tear*

Um, where was I? Oh. The poll. After reading Marianne Mancusi’s “Moongazers” (thoughts on which I may post later), I noticed that Dorchester’s new Shomi line is running a contest, and decided to enter Reborn in Fire as it seems tailor-made for it. The heroine is definitely introduced to an alternate (to her) reality, a new world of magic that she was previously unaware of, and the hero is DEFINITELY the one “in the know.” Even though the contest rules didn’t specify you couldn’t enter manuscripts you may have already submitted to the general Dorchester umbrella *cough*, I’ve decided to change RIF’s title, just to be safe. And I gutted the first chapter, much as I loved it. I think that adds to the story’s mystique, especially in the beginning. So, on to the poll.

Rest in Peace, Robert Jordan…

I’m sooooo sad. Robert Jordan, best known for his bestselling Wheel of Time series, has passed away after battling a long illness. Here’s a copy of the post his cousin made yesterday. My husband and I would never have met if not for RJ. We crossed paths several times on various Wheel of Time-based RPG MUDs in the mid-90’s and became part of the same core group of friends. I will always be grateful to RJ for creating such a rich, multi-layered universe that provided so very many hours of enjoyment to so many people, and of course provided me the opportunity to meet my soulmate.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, James Rigney, and rest in peace. You will be in the hearts of a great number of people…
