Yet More Wordage…

Wrote about 750 new words tonight, and plotted almost 700 more words before that. Feel pretty smug but tired, and hoping to make a significant dent on the total word count this weekend.

I changed the total word goal to 80k instead of 90k because I think the first draft is going to end up much closer to 80k. Still quite a respectable size, which may get expanded closer to 90k in second draft form.

And now, exhausted, so time for vegging before bed.

Wordage…

Seems trivial after such a sad announcement, but I really need to keep my motivation and forward motion going, so posting a word count update. I enjoyed a couple word wars with last night and wrote around 1500 words. Things are speeding along in the WIP and they keep getting worse and worse for my main characters. Can’t wait to finish this book and start submitting it. I definitely feel it’s my strongest to date.

Hrm, think I had my word count wrong last time…This is hopefully accurate!

Rest in Peace, Jim Baen…

Even though I didn’t know much about Jim Baen personally, I wanted to take a moment to announce his passing. I followed this link from a few people on my flist. David Drake is one of my favorite authors–I absolutely LOVE his Isle series–and it seems like he and Jim were really close. It’s a wonderful thing to have such a friend, one who knows your flaws and cares about you deeply regardless. I’ll be praying for Jim, his family, and friends. And I’ll think about him on October 22nd, my birthday, which was his as well.

No New Words…

last night, though I did manage to do some prose clean-up during the day yesterday. The evening was too nutso to get any actual writing done. However, I really do like the way the book is shaping up and I am excited to finish it. No grocery store trips or dinner-cooking planned for tonight, so hopefully I will get the chance to sit down and WRITE this evening!

Quickie Update…

No, I did not fall off the “writing wagon” this weekend, but I was MIA for family reasons. My brother came home after being away for 5 months (trying to wrap things up in Virginia so he could move back here permanently) so I spent most of the weekend with him, Zack, and husband. We had a lot of fun together and I’m so glad to have him back! (For those who don’t remember, my brother Chris suffered a traumatic brain injury a year ago and the doctors did not expect him to live out the day. Miraculously, he survived and, in fact, has made nearly a complete recovery. I’d say he’s about 85-90% of what he was pre-accident, and most of his problems are memory-related.)

Off school tonight so hoping to get some words in. , you gonna be around? Paula?

The Write Stuff…

So I got in a quick 30-minute word war with Ms. Paula last night and wrote almost 400 words. Slow going, cause it’s a love scene, and those take actual–you know–thinking to get them right. Or close to right, anyway. I’m going to have to do some fleshing out and rewriting later to smooth it out the way I want it. On the plus side, I seem to be getting back into the groove. Yay!
