I’m glad I had such an amazingly productive weekend of writing because this week (and probably the next) has shaped up differently. I wasn’t well on Monday (and still feel fairly icky), then had class Tuesday and Wednesday (though I left class early last night because I feel so crappy). Tonight husband and I have the final walk-through for our new house, and tomorrow afternoon–as long as everything goes as planned–we have the closing and get the keys to our first house. So exciting!
Had another productive writing day yesterday. I ended the night at 4,500 words and am now just over the 67k mark. I didn’t sleep well and woke up feeling like crap so I’m home today and may get some more words in, depending upon how I feel. I would love to reach the 70k mark but we’ll see how it goes.
Just waiting for husband to finish so we can leave work and go home. Pouting cause I was reminded about the RT Convention in St. Louis next which reminded me that I can’t afford it. That’s the second convention in St. Louis somewhat recently that I haven’t been able to attend. So much for networking! Ah well, there’s always next time…I hope!
I will console myself with thoughts of working on Where Angels Fear to Tread tonight…I am loving this WIP so much, and can’t wait to finish it and send it out! I’m still trying to decide whether it’s more a paranormal romance or an urban fantasy…Ah well, that’s irrelevant for now! Besides, when I get an agent (when, not if!), I can let her or him worry about that. And the editor of course.
till homeownership! Yes, I’m excited. Very, very excited. I just can’t wait to move in. Of course, I’m not looking forward to all the painting we have to do, but then again–the fact that I know we can do whatever we want, whenever we want, will make the painting a bit more fun. I hope! =) We’re planning to paint the entire first floor (it’s a split level and we like the paint job in the basement) so that is a LOT of painting!
Been too busy with school the past two days to get any writing in. I am almost finished reading Kim Harrison’s Dead Witch Walking and I LOVE it. Another heroine I can like rather than want to strangle a la Anita Blake. Woo woo! That’s always a pleasure. It also makes me even more determined to finish my WIP and find a nice agent and publishing home for it.
Did I mention only 8 more days till we close on our house? Oh, okay…I’ll shut up now. =)
Busy, annoying day so far, and it’s only 10:30 a.m. on Monday! Sheesh…Wicked short-handed at work and I’m feeling kind of tired and blah today for some reason. I am headachey and feeling a bit “stuffed up” so I hope I’m not coming down with something. Hopefully it’s “just” allergies. A. We’re too short-handed for me to be sick. B. I’m too busy with school to be sick. C. I want to save as many sick days as I can for later this year if I do manage to get pregnant within the next few months. And, of course, D. Being sick sucks so go away germs!
Busy weekend, as usual. Shawn and I did some more shopping and a lot more packing for our upcoming move. I can’t believe I will finally own my own home in just 11! more days! It’s really a dream come true for me. I know home ownership comes with its own headaches, but after a somewhat unstable childhood and seeing all the struggles my widowed mother went through, it just means a lot to me to know I will have my very own home soon. Yes, I’m excited!
We did laundry for the (hopefully) very last time at the sucky ole laundromat yesterday. I kept saying to husband, “Aren’t you glad we don’t have to do this anymore?!?” I also managed to get about 750 words written while waiting for the clothes to dry. I watched some tv that afternoon to relax from my stressful week, and then that evening I got about another 300 or so words in to put me up over the 1k mark. Kinda pathetic, actually, but considering how busy I am with work, school, and house preparation it will have to do!
Now if I can just stay awake today and manage to have at least an okay day at work I will be happy!
So, I got in about 500 words last night. Not particularly stellar, but certainly better than nothing. I also did some brainstorming with the lovely and hopefully was of some help to her. The newest scene is proceeding nicely, and it’s nice to know I actually made it through the second third of the book without suffering one of those “midbook slumps.” Yay! Now, if I could just manage to cram in more BIC time I’d be golden!
Speaking of golden, I can’t wait to finish the current WIP for more than being able to submit it to agents. I am eager to work on the next WIP, which is tentatively titled “Golden Silence” and will be an epic fantasy. Or something. The main cultures in this book will be based upon Ancient Egypt. Who doesn’t love Ancient Egypt??? *grin* There will be two entwined main characters, one the illegitimate daughter of the king of a patriarchal society and the other a daughter of a foreign-born slave who grows up in a matriarchal society. The first woman grows up to lead a double life: a seemingly proper diplomat serving the Queen-Regent (who just so happens to be her legitimate half-sister, a secret they guard fiercely) by day, and an assasin known as the “Queen’s Silence” by night. The second woman is a priestess in the matriarchal society who possesses the powers of a psychometrist, and, as a result, serves as judge and jury for certain high-stakes/magic-related crimes. I am spinning a very nice, very convoluted web of betrayal, treachery, and murder for the two to navigate. I really think it will be a LOT of fun!
But first…first I must finish the current WIP. No cookie for me until I do!
